Our company specializes in active, small group trips with a focus on National Parks and wilderness lands. We operate a fleet of 15 passenger Ford Vans that allow access to more remote regions and wilderness areas. In addition to our expertise as operators of small group adventure, we also have ample experience operating trips for groups of 40+ travelers using trusted coach bus suppliers.
Most trips are typically a mix of camping and hotels, but we also offer a wide range of fully accommodated hotel/cabin and lodge based trips. For each of our partner brands, we offer trips at all budget and activity levels. We have relationships with hundreds of accommodation and activity suppliers and receive favorable rates in exchange for our consistent and substantial business.
A long history of adventure travel
AmeriCan Adventures was born out of the merger of TrekAmerica and Intrepid Travel’s US based operations to create North America’s leading specialist tour operator. AmeriCan Adventures operates for more than 15 leading tour operators and other specialist walking clubs and adventurous school groups.
The company currently employs 35 full time staff and a variety of seasonal operational roles to assist the business during the peak summer months. At peak of summer in 2017, the business will employ over 165 leaders and 40 office staff across its 3 offices (Santa Rosa, New Jersey and Vancouver).
Our core purpose
To enrich our traveler’s lives by providing a local’s insight into the diverse culture and natural beauty of North America.
Our guiding values
AmeriCan Adventures aims to be a leader in developing and operating adventure and experiential holidays in North America. We will develop exceptional journeys and ensure that our partners brand experiences are delivered every step of the way.
Your partner in North America
Because of our ‘neutral’ nature as a private group tour operator, our greatest strength is our ability to operate trips under a variety of brands. We currently operate trips for TrekAmerica, Intrepid Travel, Grand American Adventures, Exodus, Sawadee, Wikinger (German language), Studiosus (also German speaking), Peregrine Adventures, The Adventure Company, and many more. AmeriCan Adventures is able to provide service for trips in German, Korean, and Mandarin. Other languages possible upon request.
We work diligently to protect and support the customer journey by fully supporting these partner brands throughout each trip. This includes vehicle and uniform branding, as well as special training on each company’s culture and expectations.
Each year, we meet with the product management teams in each brand to review the previous season’s trips and discuss how we can create even better experiences for their clients. This includes developing new trips and building on the successful programs.
Here are some of the current partners that work with AmeriCan Adventures to operate their North American trips.
Our operations team
AmeriCan Adventure’s North American operation team has an impressive depth of experience in all regions of North America – and all areas of the business. Most senior managers worked as leader’s themselves, many with some of the current brands that we operate. We believe this experience is the key to offering unbeatable customer service – to all of our clients, whether they are business partners, or clients on our trips. We realize that we are only as good as the trips we run and our proud to be considered the most inspired adventure tour operator in North America.
Combined Years of Managerial Experience
Why work with AmeriCan Adventures travel?
Our staff is committed and capable of delivering a wide range of holiday experiences. We currently offer over 160 different itineraries, from sightseeing tours of the California Coast, to more in-depth and active trips in the more remote regions of North America. We can cater to school groups, hiking clubs, charity groups and the most seasoned travelers.
Support - no matter where you are
We are especially proud of the level of support that we offer our leaders, clients and partners. With operations bases in the West, Canada and the East, we can provide support to our groups from all angles. Some groups might need extra equipment, others may have a vehicle.
We have a full time Safety and Compliance Manager that is completely dedicated to ensuring the highest level of safety standards. This includes new leader training, driver’s training (new and ongoing) and the relationships with our 3rd party suppliers and accommodation providers. We also enlist an external auditor to assess our activity providers and support the training and development of our crisis management team.
Continuity and consistency
One of our unique strengths is our ability to deliver a consistent level of quality over a wide range of trips. Working with our brands, we develop authentic experiences that can be delivered over and over again, whilst keeping the enthusiasm and discovery of the first trip. This applies to our entire range of year round itineraries and can only be achieved by having the depth of leading experience that our leader rank offers.
With the backing of Tui’s Adventure Specialist division, we are able to commit to long term investments and forward commitments. This buying power ensures that we can get reservations in all the right places, at the right time of year. It also gives our partners the peace of mind that we can weather the toughest travel climates.
Fully bonded and insured
AmeriCan Adventures operates under rules and regulations as set out by the Department of Transport. This includes pre-employment drug testing, background checks and pre-employment medical examinations for our drivers. We manage the number of hours worked with daily log books that also include a daily inspection report of our vehicles. Furthermore, the speed of our vehicles is monitored on each van by the use of a computerized speed chip that controls speed limits on each vehicle.
AmeriCan Adventures maintains comprehensive motor vehicle and public liability insurance with a policy that offers $11 million in protection. We believe this is the highest level of insurance carried by any operator in this part of the industry. Further coverage is provided by our parent company, Tui Travel, which owns and operates the largest group of adventure tour operators in the world.
Most importantly, we aim to conduct our business responsibly at all levels; internally and on the road. We respect the environment, our clients and suppliers, and each other, and are absolutely committed to sustainable business practices. Admittedly, we have a long way to go, but we are confident of our progress.
